The Visa Section is open to the public for logging of Visa Applications from  10.00am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday, with exception of local Bank Holidays and Public Holidays falling under the national holidays’ calendar of the United Republic of Tanzania and United Kingdom.

Note: Collection is only between 2.00pm and 3.30 pm.

WHO NEEDS VISA TO TANZANIA?

All nationals of the countries or territorial entities mentioned below.

Stateless and those holding non-national travel/refugee documents or passports issued by an authority not recognized by the United Republic of Tanzania, must obtain a valid visa on each occasion they need to enter Tanzania.

The countries whose nationals require visa for Tanzania are:

Please find hereunder NEW VISA fee with immediate effect:

1. ORDINARY PASSPORT (national passport) - additional of £10.00 for express service (24 hours service)

                                                                                       - additional of £20.00 for same day service

2. CTD - Refugee Travel Documents - additional of £10.00 for express service (24 hours service)

                                                                      - additional of £20.00 for same day service

3. Tourist Visa is Valid for 3 Month from date of issue.

1. ORDINARY PASSPORT (national passport) NEW VISA fees - £ 40.00

2. CTD - Refugee Travel Documents - VISA fee remain the same - £52.00

SECTION No: 1

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR A VISA

Read the following before completing the Visa application form

Visa forms can be downloaded from here or link below this page. Forms are also available from Consular office at the High Commission. Use the form provided for all types of visas.

***Once a visa has been issued it is non-refundable.

Applications submitted in Person at the Consular

Opening Times: 10am - 12.30pm: Visa applications (strictly adhere to the set times)

14.00pm – 15.30pm: Visa Collection

Note: The office is open on weekdays except on UK and Tanzania National holidays

Visa applications can be submitted on behalf of other applicants.  Children require visas and fee is same as adults. There is no appointment system.  Submit the following for each application:

A completed visa application form

Original passport, which must be valid for at least the next 6 months from date of application

2 recent passport photographs (scanned photos printed on ordinary paper will not be accepted)

Visa fee £40.00 in cash/postal order payable to Tanzania High Commission

Tourist/Holiday visa: single entry only. Double Entry allows entry into Tanzania for a second time if travelling from [Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda or Burundi only] during the validity of the visa.

 

Business visa: submit all the above and a letter of invitation from the Tanzania counterpart.

Business visa fees:  Multiple entry 6 months £80 and 12 months £100 (multiple entry permits holder a maximum of 2 months stay in Tanzania per visit).

Volunteering, Research, Studies and Medical Elective permits: these are issued by Immigration services in Tanzania only. Contact your host organisation to arrange it for you.  If applicants want to go before permit is ready, can apply for an entry visa to Tanzania here in the UK, this visa can be a tourist or holiday.

Note:

  • In Tanzania you will be required to obtain a permit to engage in your respective activity
  • Stay in Tanzania depends on validity of your VISA

Allow 3 working days for the collection of visa and passport. Express service: 24 hr service, an additional £10 on the visa fee for each applicant (only for applications submitted in person), or same day service of £20 on the visa fee for each applicant. However submitting visa applications must be between 10:00am - 12:30pm, Monday - Friday.

Collection:  can be made on any day from the day that has been allocated by the visa office, strictly adhere to the collection times specified.

Postal applications

NOTE: DO NOT TELEPHONE THE CONSULAR ABOUT THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION UNLESS YOU WISH TO WITHDRAW IT OR 10 WORKING DAYS HAVE ELASPED SINCE WE RECEIVED YOUR APPLICATION (to confirm whether your application has been received, by us use the Royal Mail track and trace website.)

A single envelope can be used for more than one application (see posting details).  Children require visas and fee is same as adults.  Submit the following for each application:

a completed visa application form

self address ed envelope (Special Delivery from royal mail) for the return of visa and passport.

Business visa: submit all the above and a letter of invitation from the Tanzania counterpart.

 

Volunteering, Research, Studies and Medical elective permits: these are issued by Immigration services in Tanzania only. Contact your host organisation to arrange it for you.  Applicants can apply for an entry visa to Tanzania here in the UK, this visa can be a tourist or business depending on the arrangements made by the host organisation. Apply for a business visa if host has not arranged an exemption certificate or permit on arrival.  Note in Tanzania you will be required obtain a permit to engage in your respective activity

Paying visa fee for postal applications   (select one).

1.Make a deposit of £40.00 for each applicant in our Barclays bank account (at any Barclays bank branch) send the ORIGINAL RECEIPT/ ORIGINAL BANK DEPOSIT STUB with your application/s (do not make an online transfer or send a personal cheque this will delay processing) If there is more than one applicant the total fees for all can be made by single deposit. Bank details: Tanzania High Commission; Sort code: 20-71-74; Account No 13494241.

2.Purchase a postal order from the post office, payable to Tanzania High Commission.  If there is more than one applicant the total fees of all applicants can be paid on single postal order

3.Republic of Ireland: Applying from the Republic of Ireland follow instructions for postal applications except the fee, arrange a Bank Draft with your bank of £40 sterling including an additional £6 for postage (total £46) made payable to Tanzania High Commission (Contact your bank for this service).  A single Bank Draft can be used to remit the total amount of more than one applicant.

Allow 10 working days for return of your visa and passport.  Applications should be made 3 - 4 weeks before travel. There is no express service for postal applications.

Posting

1.Post the above documents by special delivery (this service is available from the post office) make note of reference no /tracker number for your reference. This is useful to track is we have received your application..

2.Include a SAE pre-paid special delivery envelope for the return of your visa and passport.  Applications from Republic of Ireland a SAE (include postage in the bank draft (see above – paying visa fees) )

3.A single envelope can be used to send /receive more than one application.

SECTION No: 2

VISA APPLICATION FOR REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT HOLDERS

Visa forms can be downloaded from link. Forms are also available from Consular office at the High Commission.

***Important information -------Apply two months before planned travel*****

 

1.  Complete the visa application form available from the website. (This is the same form for all types of visas).

2.  Either bring in person or post to the Consular in London

The completed visa application form

Photocopy of the information page of your travel document

2 recent original passport photographs (not scanned photo printed on ordinary paper)

A letter of invitation from your host in Tanzania.

3.  Inform your host in Tanzania to complete and sign a security bond available from the Consular Division at the Immigration Headquarters in Dar es Salaam.

4.  If visa application is approved, you will be required to submit in person or send (see posting information) your original Travel Document to the Consular in London for visa to be issued.

5. Visa fee is £52 this is payable after the visa has been approved.

Applications submitted in person: Pay visa fee by Cash or Postal Order payable to Tanzania High Commission.

Postal application visa fee (select one).

6. Posting

Post the above documents by special delivery (this service is available from the post office) make note of the reference no./tracker no. of the envelope for your reference.  This is useful to track if we have received your application.
